What is " Describing A Person " ?

Describing people is describing people by mentioning the physical characteristics that person has. In describing people as objects, words are used to represent facial features, body, temperament, habits, profession and whatever. Everything that can be represented by words can be mentioned so that it is clear. For example body shape fat, short, curly hair, blue eyes.

How to  descriptive person :

1.      Vocabulary

a list or collection of words or of words and phrases usually alphabetically arranged and explained or defined. For example (beautiful, handsome, smart, tall, cheerful, kind, old, young, caring)

•     Beautiful girl

•     Old man

•     Kind person

•     Caring person

2.      Word order

Word order is a standard arrangement of words to form a sentence that has a complete meaning.

a.      She baked Portuguese egg tarts. 

b.      They found nothing.

c.      Dini and her family love cats. 

Word Order Type :

Ø  Subordinate Clauses In subordinate clauses, word order is the same as in simple affirmative sentences (Conjunctions are often used between 2 clauses)

Example:  I will tell you the story at school tomorrow because I don't have time now.

Ø  Position of Time Expressions

It can be said that time expressions are descriptions of time, such as: now, recently, yesterday, etc. In this form adverbs of time are usually placed at the end of the sentence, such as: I will tell you the story tomorrow.

Example : Tomorrow I will tell you the story

Ø  Inverted word order

Inverted word order is a condition where the verb appears before the subject.

Bob’s Family

Bob Hunter is forty years old. He lives in Derby with his wife and three children .His wife’s name is Linda and she is an artist. Their eldest child, Richard, is studying Engineering at Derby University. Their middle child is called Claire. She’s fourteen and a student at Derby Grammar School. Their youngest child is Sally, who is twelve. She enjoys horse-riding and cycling.

4.      Writing

 Alex : Hello, have you seen my little brother who is cycling around this park?

Maria : Many children play and cycle in this park. What are the characteristics of your younger sibling?

Alex : She is about 8 years old, thin, girl, wears a veil, has white skin, wears a pink shirt, pink veil, black pants, wears a white folding bicycle, have you seen her?

Maria : Yes, I saw him, earlier he was playing in the park with other children, then he left

Alex : Do you know where he went?

Maria : Maybe he went to the direction of the ice cream shop across from the park

Alex : Alright, thank you for the information

Maria : You’re welcome.
